»About Me«

I’m Ashley Brooks, a spunky editor with a knack for turning ideas into reality and a love of creative, entrepreneurial spirits.

If the word “editor” brings to mind . . .
a stodgy, cantankerous old lady
your high school English teacher
an evil dictator plotting to take over your writing
an irritating snob who looks down his nose at the grocer whose sign says “10 items or less”

. . . Think again.

I view editing as a partnership to make your writing the best it can be—not a dictatorship where I “fix” your work.

I’m energized, passionate, and creative—just like you.
You have huge goals for your life and business, but you’re not sure how to make them happen. I can help.

Do you dream of being an author but keep getting stuck? I can work with you through writing coaching or developmental editing.

Have you always wanted to earn passive income, or have an awesome opt-in freebie for your blog? I can coach you through writing an ebook.

Are you overwhelmed and short on time? I offer blog management services to take that extra stress off your plate.

Maybe you just need to make sure your writing is clear and meaningful: that’s where my copy editing comes in.

Whether you’re a writer, blogger, entrepreneur, or all three, I want to work with you to bring your unique story alive. You have what it takes to achieve great things, so don’t wait to make them happen!

If you’re a creative with an unquenchable passion to share your blog, business, or story with the world, check out my Work With Me page. Together, we can make it happen.

The Life of an Editor

I’ve been a freelance editor and writer for over a year, and I love every minute of it. After earning a degree in English literature and writing from Northwestern University – St. Paul, I knew I wanted editing and working with creatives to be part of my job. Freelancing is more fun than I ever imagined work could be. I’m thrilled to be doing something I love and working with awesome writers and entrepreneurs.

Here are some of my more notable quirks:

I’m an INFJ on the Myers-Briggs, and I’m a sucker for personality assessments.

I live in Minnesota. Fall and winter are my favorites. Summer, not so much—unless, of course, I’m enjoying a long weekend at the cabin.

I’m extremely pale and have been known to get a sunburn in March. (See above: dislike of summer.)

I daydream so often that I sometimes make time in my schedule just to let my imagination run wild.

I almost never finish one book before starting the next—but I always come back to them eventually.

Thanks to my hunter of a husband, I can cook just about any type of wild game. (Squirrel stew, anyone?)

I love stories in every shape and form.

Nighttime bonfires and drive-in movies are two of the best ways to spend an evening.

I’m a fidgeter—I always have to be moving.

Since I can’t sit still, I’ve taken up knitting. My dream retirement is to move to the middle of nowhere, raise alpacas, and spin my own yarn.

I grew up on Disney. To this day, I still think Disney World is the happiest place on earth. I’m extremely unapologetic about this.

I think everyone should follow their dreams—especially the crazy ones.
